About Carri Holton

Why did you become a nurse practitioner?

I knew from the time I was in middle school that I wanted to go into women’s health in some form. I ended up as a labor and delivery nurse at the beginning of my career which just reinforced my passion for taking care of women and children. When my own children were a little older, I knew I wanted to further my education and scope of practice, so I went back to school and became a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. This journey from RN to NP only strengthened my knowledge and skills but also provided me with a compassionate and empathetic view of my patients.

What do you like about providing care to teens/kids?

I love making a connection with kids and teens! I strive to create a comfortable space for children and teens to be open and parents to feel their child is in the most caring hands.

What is the best part of your job?

The best part of my job is teaching kids, teens, and parents about reproductive health. Regardless of what brings the patient to see me, I always integrate education and counseling into the visit and make sure everyone involved understands and feels heard.

How are you involved in medical education?

I love having learners and have a resident a half day every week. I have had NP students and plan to take more when possible.

What is your favorite?

Fault in our Stars by John Green

Peanut Butter Falcon

I love any art from a local artist!

What’s your favorite part about living in Colorado?

The mountains, the snow, and everyone is so kind. I grew up in Colorado and feel like it is part of me. Anytime I want to remember why I love it here so much I just need to drive a couple hours West and I am still in awe.

What is your favorite food that you make?

Banana cake with raspberries and Lemon cream cheese frosting.

When you were 10, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A veterinarian like every other little girl.

What was your favorite hobby when you were a kid, and now as an adult?

I loved arts and crafts, camping with the family and skiing.

Hiking with my family and goldens, painting with my daughters, traveling anywhere.
