About Dr. Julie Friedman
Why did you become a doctor?
It was my high school science teacher who first planted the idea that I could even become a doctor. I had a couple of professors in college that then cultivated my love of medicine and especially my love of hormones. I found that I had a passion for working with patients and being a lifelong learner and educator.
What do you like about providing care to teens/kids?
Teens and kids are hilarious, blunt, and are often misunderstood. I love being the provider who listens to kids and creates a safe space for them to ask questions and get the healthcare they need and deserve.
What is the best part of your job?
Learning something new and being humbled by my patients everyday.
What is your favorite?
Anything by Barbara Kingsolver
Top Three (I can't just pick one): Love Actually, The Intouchables, and Lost in Translation
Feels Flows by The Beach Boys
What is your favorite food that you make?
Salmon sushi
When you were 10, what did you want to be when you grew up?
An environmentalist. But, I didn’t know that word yet so I would say I wanted to 'clean the world'.
What was your favorite hobby when you were a kid, and now as an adult?
I loved being active, swimming, and playing tennis. And I still do!
