About Dr. Kellie Woodfield

Why did you become a doctor?

I was raised in a culture that told me women were not as tough, capable, or smart as men, so I wanted to prove everyone wrong. Fortunately as I progressed throughout my medical training, my motivations have since shifted more toward my patients as I have been humbled by the suffering and resiliency of the individuals I have cared for.

What do you like about providing care to teens/kids?

I think children and teens are SO entertaining. I leave every day with a great story and am continually amazed at their insight into life. I also enjoy the challenge of transforming a potentially scary medical visit and exam into something (hopefully) a little less intimidating.

What is the best part of your job?

Having my perspective of humanity refined daily through my interactions with patients and hearing their life stories.

What is your favorite?

Tie between Sabriel by Garth Nix, and The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley

Star Wars

Looking Out by Brandi Carlile

What is your favorite food that you make?

 Shakshuka

When you were 10, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Oh, hands down a member of the US Women’s National Soccer Team.

What was your favorite hobby when you were a kid, and now as an adult?

Soccer, soccer and soccer. I can’t get enough.
