About Kendra Hutchens, PhD
Why did you become a researcher?
I'm endlessly curious person and believe in the transformative power of scientific inquiry to help reduce health disparities and improve health outcomes.
What are your research interests?
As a sociologist, I am interested in the various ways in which overlapping systems of power—like gender, socioeconomic status, racism, and religion—shape reproductive health outcomes, perceptions of health, experiences in health systems, and attitudes about reproductive health.
What is the best part of your job?
Problem-solving with people who care about using research to improve and destigmatize reproductive wellbeing.
How are you involved in medical education?
I currently help to support research training for the new Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology Fellowship.
