About Dr. Tricia Huguelet
Why did you become a doctor?
I love helping patients understand the why of medicine. I truly believe the more they can empower themselves with knowledge about their bodies, the more they can help take care of themselves and understand why their medicine or surgery is so important. My father was a pediatric infectious disease specialist and I definitely fell in love with medicine and science, watching him take care of patients and families in need.
What do you like about providing care to teens/kids?
I love building a relationship with teens, helping them to understand their bodies and be their own advocates. I also enjoy taking care of young girls, helping put both themselves and their parents at ease when a gynecologic problem arises. They are so much more common than most people realize!
What is the best part of your job?
Hearing from patients when their surgery or the treatment they receive has helped them to heal. They are no longer scared and can enjoy just being a kid or teen!
How are you involved in medical education?
I am very involved in medication education. I currently serve as the Assistant Residency Program Director for the Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology Rotation and will soon transition this role to Dr. Veronica Alaniz as I take on the role of Fellowship Director for our new Fellowship in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology. Medical education is so important to the future our healthcare system and can truly be an asset for patients when incorporated thoughtfully and with patient’s best interests in mind.
