About Dr. Veronica Alaniz
Why did you become a doctor?
I grew up in a Hispanic community along the Texas-Mexico border, where there are significant health and education disparities. I learned about the health issues affecting my community at a young age and decided that a career in medicine would be the most fulfilling way for me to help others.
What do you like about providing care to teens/kids?
I love teaching kids and teens about their bodies and reproductive health. My patients have great questions and insight. It’s so fun getting to know them and helping them with their gynecological concerns.
What is the best part of your job?
It’s impossible to choose one thing! The patients, my colleagues, a fun and supportive environment, teaching opportunities, collaborative relationships with other subspecialists at Children’s Hospital Colorado.
How are you involved in medical education?
I teach and supervise medical students, residents, and fellows in the clinic and operating room. I also serve on the NASPAG resident education committee and am the Associate Program director for the PAG fellowship at CU.
